I need Thor to come save me from my disorganized computer

Okay. So I was just poking around on my hard drive, trying to find a text file that has a post that I wrote half of yesterday and wanted to finish. It was really clever and witty! It would have impressed you all!

Actually, no. It had fannish questions to which I need answers and a lot of outrageous flattery so that you all would feel loved and therefore come give me answers.

I can't find it, but that's really not important.


While I was hunting, I ran across a file from a while ago in which I was making a brainstorming sort of list, trying to figure out a non-hackneyed reason to get our General Jack from Washington to some other planet.

The list never really got very far, and I saved it in a hurry, obviously, because the filename is one of those auto-generated Microsoft Word titles where it steals the first several words from the file and uses them as the title.

My completely innocent file is titled 'Stupid and overused ways to get Jack off'.

*facepalm*

*giggles to death*

Today, my sense of humor is a couple of decades younger than my body.

1) Thor
2) Aliens want to give him presents
3) Aliens want to kidnap him!
4) Jonas! (actually, is that overused?)
5) THOR!
6) OMG, Ancient tech
7) Party! At Thor's place!
8) This is really, really dumb. Or wait, maybe that's me. Crud.

I wasn't kidding, it didn't get very far.

Anyway. Here's what I want to know: does Satterfield really not have a canon first name? Not anywhere? Not, like, an interview or a post someone made on Gateworld or ... you know, anything? Fannish consensus? Seriously, I always thought her first name was Grace. Clearly I just invented that wildly - I assume by conflating the character's name with the actor's.

I hate giving recurring characters first names. It's enough to make me not use a character, which in this case would make me abandon the fic. Somebody needs to fix this. Like right now. =)

Also ETA: Any aggravation evident in the above list is totally directed at my own brain and not at anyone who has used Thor as an excuse for any activities whatsoever. *g*

PS - also, you are very sweet to have gone through the transcript! I did at least check the character bios on several sites before I threw up my hands in despair. =D
